DATALINK API helps to place your customers on a map – visualize relationships between neighboring areas, consumer types and consumer spending.
The DATALINK API gives you easy access to our globally consistent and comparable geodata. Thus, we offer you the best basis for well-founded and data-based decision-making. On request, we integrate the MBI data directly into our digital boundaries. You can load them directly into your system without any intermediate steps and use them immediately.
Depending on the IT demands, we can offer you two options
Use simple HTTP GET methods providing sociodemographic and socio-economic data, geocoding, places and positioning.
The DATALINK Desktop is a Client for the MBI DATALINK API which enables easy access to various data provided by Michael Bauer International GmbH (MBI).
Request data for various inputs
- Region-id or postcode
- Get data aggregated within an isochrone
- Send isochrone or iso-distance parameters like maximum drive time or distance, vehicle type and routing type together with an address or coordinate
- Receive the isochrone nodes together with the aggregated data for this isochrone
- All requests are simple HTTPS GET
- Use any application that is able to send custom HTTPS GET requests (browser, REST tools, …)
- Virtually every modern programming language has built-in capability or module support for HTTPS requests
- All responses are in the widely used JSON format

Supported by the HERE API
The server internally uses the HERE API for functionality like geocoding or isochrone calculation.
When a business analyzes the demographic structures of its current customers in more detail, it gains a clear understanding of who their customers actually are. Once this knowledge is acquired, they can develop strategies about how to reach each target market and optimize their sales and marketing goals. By identifying groups of customers who have characteristics like purchasing power, number of household or demographics in common, the untapped potentials can be localized and visualized by placing them on a map.
So how does it work?
Simply import your address database and select the attributes needed from a wide selection of globally consistent and comparable data sets. Our data sets include population, gender, number of households, age bands, education, marital status, consumer styles, purchasing power, consumers spending and retail spending on a variety of different geographical levels.
Each address is geocoded, to find its exact geographical location. Once the location is known, the selected data from the chosen associated geographical area is appended to the address. For example, the customer address is in an area with low population number, high percentage of people over 45 years of age, little to no children, with an above average purchasing power. With this information, the marketing or communication directed at this customer can be optimized.
